Our program takes its cue from Caroline Shaw’s new piece and what she has told us about it in advance -
Bernd Franke’s Luther Madrigals are a social portrait of Luther among his friends, and using their words about him -
the pieces by Byrd and Gibbons originally involved instruments, but are here performed by voices alone -
so everything has been ‘folded' in one way or another.
