The piece by Australian composer Ross Edward which is performed at this concert was co-commissioned by Ars Nova Copenhagen and Edinburgh Festival. You will also hear music by David Lang, Lou Harrison, Steve Reich, Terry Riley and Jack Body.
The CD 'The Little Match Girl Passion' was among this years Grammy winners! The CD presents vocal music by the American composer David Lang. The 'title piece' was recorded by Paul Hillier's own ensemble Theatre of Voices And Ars Nova contributed with four pieces, including For Love is Strong which was written for the ensemble.
In June 2009 Ars Nova performed music by David Lang at the Bang on a can Marathon in New York.
Welcome to season 2009-10! We have planned a feast of outstanding vocal music for you, with several world premieres, some rarities, and even a few well known pieces! We welcome Sunleif Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands as our composer in residence this season. And we look forward very much to special cooperations with great ensembles such as Lautten Compagney Berlin, the Rascher Saxophone Quartet, and Denmark´s Concerto Copenhagen. The season includes a number of CD releases, and recordings of music by Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen and the completion of our Schütz project.
