Sofi Jeannin
Sofi Jeannin took on the role as the ensemble's new chief conductor in March 2024, succeeding Paul Hillier.
Swedish/French Jeannin is in demand as a conductor worldwide: In addition to her positions as chief conductor of the BBC Singers and Maitrise de Radio France, she frequently appears as a guest conductor with a wide range of leading European choirs and vocal ensembles.
Sofi Jeannin was born in Sweden, where she spent her childhood and early youth. She trained as a singer at the Conservatoire in Nice and later at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. At the Royal College of Music in London, she studied choral conducting, a subject she has subsequently taught at the same institution. Her repertoire spans a wide range, and she is praised for her exceptionally distinctive and beautiful conducting technique, as well as her refined musicality.
Ars Nova's collaboration with Sofi Jeannin got a head start in September 2023 with three concerts featuring a purely French program. The collaboration will extend until the end of the 2026/27 season.
